Welcome back to Deer Falls!
I’ve teased sequels to Pandora Reborn for the last three or four years. Now, after enduring some false starts and unexpected delays, the first of those sequels is finally headed your way. I’m thrilled to announce that The Crimson Reaper will be released through Samak Press on September 10th.
The Crimson Reaper is the second novel (and third book overall) in my Deer Falls horror series. This new addition to the supernatural lore of Deer Falls is set approximately six years after the events chronicled in Pandora Reborn and eight years after the events chronicled in Snow Dragon.
I have at least one other sequel to Pandora Reborn in the works. Look for that story to be released in 2026.
Here’s a sneak peek at the back cover description (blurb) for my latest novel:
Consumed by a thirst to unlock powerful dark magic, a sadistic killer stalks Deer Falls. Can Eric Olson overcome past trauma to save himself and the rest of the town from destruction?
Six years have passed since Eric helped his older brother Ron defeat an ancient malevolent witch. A brush with death in that battle has left him with recurring hallucinations. While struggling to heal from his mental scars, Eric is confronted with a new deadlier adversary.
Mysterious ritualistic slayings are plaguing Deer Falls. Nobody is safe from a powerful serial killer who has descended upon the sleepy Colorado town. Driven by a thirst for revenge, they will stop at nothing to release dark magic housed within an ancient amulet and wield it for their own purposes.
When Eric and his mom Emily fall in this killer’s crosshairs, he must again face his worst nightmares brought to life. Can Eric protect himself and his mom from danger while stopping a cunning adversary from ruling Deer Falls and beyond through terror and magic?
The Crimson Reaper is a haunting sequel to Pandora Reborn and the newest entry in John Coon’s Deer Falls horror series. If you love chilling characters and relentlessly suspenseful stories, you will devour this small-town horror tale.
Terrifying, huh?
You can now pre-order the eBook edition of The Crimson Reaper at several major booksellers ahead of its September release date. I anticipate the paperback and hardcover editions will be available for pre-order through Ingram Spark sometime in early August.
